GPUMC COVID-19 RESPONSE
As COVID-19 cases surge due to the Delta variant, Ginter Park United Methodist Church is now requiring everyone over two years of age whether fully vaccinated or not to wear a mask that covers both the mouth and nose in the church building. Disposable masks will be available to anyone that needs one. We will continue to do what is necessary to protect everyone’s health. Thank you for your cooperation!
Your food pantry served an average of 144 households (432 individuals) each week during November. As always, volunteers are welcome. Paper grocery bags with handles are needed as are donations of canned fruit and vegetables and dry cereal.
FOOD PANTRY NEED:
The Food Pantry will need at least four strong persons to help move a commercial size refrigerator. Please contact Horace Ford at 804-387-6021 or email@example.com if interested. DATE/TIME has not been set.
Crew length warm socks, gloves and stocking caps for both men and women. The Dollar Tree has great ones in stock right now. Please drop off your donations to the Church Office.
Volunteers are needed to deliver our traditional Christmas Gift Bags by December 15. Just drop them off at the front doors of our beloved Shut-in members in our Church Family. Please contact Mary Swing. (Due to Covid we need only to deliver).
There are devotionals available which are supplied at no cost by the Society of Saint Andrew. These are wonderful devotionals provided to guide our personal time with God during Advent. They are available in the narthex and on the table by the door at the front of the Sanctuary leading to the Parlor.
December 12: In the church year, this third Sunday of Advent is called “Joy Sunday”. In the middle of our busy Advent season, take this day just to be glad, to be grateful for all the blessings we have received in our lives, and to look forward to the greatest joy, our Savior, soon to be born in Bethlehem. As you reflect on the peace and joy in your life, give generously to Society of St. Andrew, using the SOSA offering envelope you received with your Advent devotional booklet. Today, spend time naming your blessings, and place a coin in your coin box for every blessing you name.
The Food Pantry urgently needs paper bags with handles. Please drop them off outside the Food Pantry door.
The Food Pantry needs additional volunteers to input client data from a a list of names, addresses, etc. into a database on Wednesday mornings. This volunteer would work in the Choir Room and would not need to be in direct contact with clients. An hour or two of time between 10 a.m. and Noon would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Horace Ford at 804-387-6021 or firstname.lastname@example.org if interested.
Will meet next Wednesday, December 15 beginning with Finance at 6:00 p.m. followed by Council at 7:00 p.m. via Zoom.
RUSH HOUR CAROLING:
On Friday, December 17, 2021 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. all are welcome to sing Christmas carols at the corner of Laburnum and Chamberlayne Aves. Lights tour after! Please contact Liz Turner for more information.
All children are invited to participate in the Christmas Eve Live Nativity during the 5 p.m. worship service. Please contact Anne Durrett if you are interested in joining in the fun!
Our church hosted a very successful two hour COVID vaccination clinic on Wednesday, November 24. Over 40 shots were administered by employees of the Virginia Department of Health. They also conducted many COVID tests during that time. We were pleased to be able to be a partner in helping to combat the COVID virus.
