Thanks to Charlie Lindsey for volunteering to be our local Director/Leader to take charge of overseeing details for our CARITAS hosting week for about 32 females currently scheduled from February 1st to 8th, 2020. June 23rd (Sunday) we will have a light dinner at Church then travel by van to the Altria Theater for a wonderful concert by the Richmond Pops. This event is free and open to anyone who would like to join us. However, we need to know who is going as it is a ticketed event. You can make a reservation by calling Beth or Roy Quist at (804)266-3164 or the Church Office at (804)262-8651. On July 18th, Rev. Joe Frazier will join us to give an update on the Stepping Stones school which is going well. August 15th, we will meet for lunch and …. on September 19th, Patti Dean from Life Net Health will speak with us about organ donation. This is a very important subject for everyone. Please spread the word and bring your friends. Everyone is invited to join us for any of our programs. It is helpful to have an idea of how many plan to attend so we have enough food.

Our food pantry needs your help. If you are able to lift cartons of canned goods and cartons of beans and pasta, we need you to help bring food from outside of the building into the food pantry on Wednesday, June 12. This is our monthly USDA delivery. It will arrive between 8 and 8:30 AM and is unusually large (16,208 pounds). Also, we can use volunteers to help greet our clients or to be trained to register guests on a laptop computer. Please contact the church office, Horace Ford, Sam Wilkinson or Joyce Roberts if you can help with any of these needs. As always, we also need paper grocery bags with handles and plastic bags. Please leave these outside of the food pantry door (Burchette Room) on the first floor as you come in from the parking lot. Thank you for your support of our food pantry.
Please inform the church office of any graduates within our church family. We will celebrate all graduates on Sunday, June 9th during both worship services. We currently have Ella Kinney (Cumberland County High School), Kevin Ford (J. Sergeant Reynolds College), Matthew Wilkinson (Vanderbilt University Law School), Peter Crane (Roanoke College), Jana Kurze (Pre K), Savannah Ford (Pole Green Elementary). A reception will be held outside the pastor’s office between services.
