TAI CHI FOR SENIORS
Tai Chi meets in the Social Hall every Thursday at 10:30 a.m.. The old-timers and any new-comers are welcome!
FOOD PANTRY AND CLOTHES CLOSET
Your Food Pantry and Clothes Closet continues to serve those in need in our community.
Paper Grocery Bags with handles – Our supply of these bags is low. If you will bring your grocery bags to church (and collect them from friends and neighbors), it will help us to meet our needs without having to purchase them at a cost of 15-1/2 cents each.
Food- We appreciate you donations of nonperishable food items, however, please make sure the expiration date is current.
Winter Coats – With the coming of cold weather, our Clothes Closet could use some winter coats for women, men and children so, as you change over your closets from Summer to Winter clothes, consider donating some of your gently used coats and other winter clothing to our Clothes Closet. All donations may be left outside of the Burchette Room on the first floor of the Educational Building. Thank you for your support of these mission opportunities.
Tuesday, December 4 at 10 A.M. will be our last UMW meeting of the year with entertainment and luncheon.
Please take time to sign as many Christmas Cards outside the church office for the Shut-Ins while you are at church. If you could do one card for every shut-in, that would be great. The names are already printed on the outside of the cards. Please replace them back in the basket once you have signed them. We would like to collect as many cards as we can from the congregation by Dec. 16! The Shut-Ins will receive the cards plus a box of cookies for Christmas. Please contact Mary Swing for information.
SOCIETY OF ST. ANDREW
Sometimes when we walk out of the sanctuary after worship, it’s easy to get back into our own world, and put our blinders back on. This Advent, take time to focus outside of your normal circle, to focus on the birth of Jesus, God coming to us in human flesh, as a tiny baby in Bethlehem. If you haven’t done so yet, pick up your copy of the devotional booklet, Surprises Along the Way this morning. Use the daily readings, reflections, and prayers to prepare your heart for the coming of the Christ-child, and commit to set aside a small gift each day during Advent that will be used by Society of St. Andrew to provide healthy food for hungry people in this country.
RUSH HOUR CAROLING
Please meet at the church on Friday, December 14 at 5:00p.m. for caroling at the corner or Chamberlayne and Laburnum Avenues. Following the caroling we will depart to Meadow Event Park for the Illuminate Light Show & Santa’s Village.
ELF SHOP FOR CHILDREN
The Children’s Elf Shop will be open for business on December 16th from 9:30 – 11:45 a.m. We are looking for clean, gently used items for the shop. Please drop them off in the bin under the table at the church office. The kids will earn Elf dollars to use for purchases by reciting their verses, good behavior, and the good deeds they do without being asked! Thanks for your help! See Liz Turner for more information.
