Announcements - Week of August 26, 2018

Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

The pastor will be away August 25-September 8. Please call the Church Office (804) 262-8651 or Anne Durrett (804) 405-9713 with any pastoral concerns you may have.

There will be no Church van available for pick up on Sunday, September 2, 2018.

Thank you so much to all who gave to the Pastor’s Discretionary Fund to assist with the cost of repairing our refugee Zahra Hussein Ali’s car. The cost was $676.10 and we have received $250 towards this expense. Without an operating vehicle, Zahra is unable to get to work and therefore has no income. Thank you!

We invite all members and friends of the church to join us on November 27-28 for a fantastic trip as we travel by bus to Lancaster, PA. Our trip will include stops at the Bird In Hand Farmer’s Market for lunch and shopping. We will then take a 3 hour back road tour of Amish Country with a Mennonite guide who will share a lot of very insightful information about the Amish including their culture, history, customs, faith, etc.

The tour will include stops at an Amish dairy farm, food shops etc. We will enjoy a wonderful smorgasbord at the Bird in Hand Family Restaurant and we will go to a spectacular show ‘Jesus,’ at the Sight and Sound Theater and finally a stop at the Kitchen Kettle Village. The total cost of $245.00 includes a ticket to Sight and Sound performance, bus transportation, one dinner, the Amish Tour, and overnight accommodations at a true HILTON hotel including hot breakfast. Costs on your own include two lunches, snacks, any shopping you might want to do and gratuity for the bus driver. We need reservations ASAP and the trip will be filled on a first come first served basis before we open it to other area churches. We are asking for a $100.00 deposit made out to the church with your reservations.

G.E.M.S. and Friends will make the long trip to Ginter Park Botanical Gardens for our September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 18. Plan to leave church at 12:00 noon and take the church van. We plan to eat (on your own) at one of the cafés. Admission is $11.00 and meals at the Garden Café ranges $5.00- 10.00 and in the Tea Garden café prices are about $8.00 – 15.00. Please let Beth or Roy Quist know if you plan to attend (804-266-3164).
