Announcements - Week of June 10, 2018

hands on bible

This month (note the date change) we will meet on Sunday, June 24. After a light, free supper at the church at 4:00p.m. and a brief meeting, we will take the Church van to the Altria Theater for the Richmond Pops performance. A few people may have to take their cars depending on how many attend. Since we may not return to the Church until after dark, we will pick up any persons who do not drive at night for the supper and concert and return them home! This is a free evening but we have requested 20 tickets so will accept the first 20 reservations. After that we will take a wait list and see if we can get additional tickets. Please remember to also request pick up if you do not want to drive at night.  G.E.M.S. and Friends welcomes all persons who might be interested in joining us for any or our programs.  Please call Roy or Beth Quest (266-3164) or the Church office (262-8651) for reservations or questions.

If you have been collecting cancelled stamps for UMCOR, please bring and place in collection container next to UMW bulletin board by Sunday, June 10. Those collected will be delivered to June Conference. Looking Ahead: Conference Mission Encounter 2018, July 27-29, Smith Mountain Lake, 4-H Center. Deadline registration July 15. If unable to attend the 3-day event, there will be a Richmond District mini-mission encounter on September 8th.  More information forthcoming in bulletins/newsletter.  And Saturday, August 18th, District UMW Trip to Shalom Farms. Have a happy safe summer and see you in September at our next scheduled meeting Tuesday the 4th!

Please take a moment to fill out the GPUMC Survey on our website or you can find hard copies in the Narthex or the Church Office.

Lectors for the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service.  Please sign-up on the board outside the Church Office.

Clara Biswas, the missionary we support in Cambodia, will be visiting Ginter Park UMC on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 as part of her report-back visit to the USA. We are planning on an afternoon meeting in the Social Hall that will probably include sandwiches for lunch.  Please reserve this time and date on your calendar to hear our missionary tell of her work among the children in Cambodia.

To date we have raised $167,439.98 for our Capital Campaign. We have spent $108,690 on replacing the boiler leaving $58,634.98 for organ repairs.  Please continue your support as we need $76,347 to complete the organ renovations.
