G.E.M.S. AND FRIENDS
Next regular meeting will be this Tuesday, May 15. We will begin with lunch at 12:00 with a “Bring Your Own Bag Lunch”. Following lunch there will be a brief meeting. Then we will head to Hollywood Cemetery. We will take the Church van and may need to have a few people drive. If the weather is not good for an outdoor day, we will go to the Virginia Museum of Fine Art.
Next month (note the date change) we will meet on Sunday, June 24. We will begin with a light, free supper at the church at 4:00 p.m. After supper, we will have a brief meeting and then will head to the Altria Theater for a performance by the Richmond Pops. Again, we will take the Church van and may need to have a few people take their cars depending on the number of people attending. Since we may not return to the Church until after dark, we will pick up any persons who do not drive at night and bring them to the Church for the supper and then return them to home following the concert! This is a free evening but reservations are needed for the concert and for pick-up if you do not drive at night.
G.E.M.S. and Friends welcomes all persons who might be interested in joining us for any or our programs. Please call Roy or Beth Quest (266-3164) or the Church office (262-8651) for Reservations or questions.
CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FUND
Thank you so much to everyone who has given. Our Capital Campaign Fund, or 100th Anniversary Fund as it is also known, is continuing because we have undertaken to complete the repair of our church organ. We have already had some work done on the organ console, but still need repairs to the Great Chamber: $23,435; the Choir Chamber: $19,592 and the Swell Chamber: $33,320 for a total of $76,347. Please continue your support as you contribute to this Fund. Thank you for your amazing generosity thus far. To date, we have raised $166,690 on our way to $300,000. $103,840 was spent on the furnace replacement and heating control system leaving $62,850 for the organ. In addition we would like to put in a ramp outside the Side Door, which will cost $15,000. Other major projects are also being planned.
